Actress Yami Gautam looked like a dream bride, in a midnight ensemble from designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula’s collection ‘Hiraeth’, at the FDCI India Couture Week 2016, here on Friday.
The designers chose an unconventional coloured bridal lehenga with a special motif on the bottom, and paired it with a light gold choli with a beautiful embellished dupatta for Yami.
The ‘Vicky Donor’ star says she felt beautiful flaunting the ensemble.
“I just feel stunning and beautiful… I love the colours, fit and embroidery,” Yami said about the showstopper dress.
Asked why they chose Yami as a showstopper, Rimple told IANS: “In terms of fashion, there is a lot to explore with Yami… She is young and talented. Our collection is a world traveller’s take on clothes that are still rooted for a longing of returning home.”
“With Yami, we have a home connect. She is from Chandigarh and we hail from Ludhiana… We have always had a soft corner for her.”
The collection saw a riot of motifs like peacocks, floral and monuments. Another interesting factor of the duo’s show was the choice of the background tracks. Instead of going for songs, the duo chose Punjabi poetry by Amrita Pritam as recited by Gulzar.
The collection featured majestic long trailed lehengas, anarkalis, regal cloaks, dramatic jackets and sheer robes.
The colour palette chosen was to depict the day transcending from morning, evening and night, which gently flowed from ethereal ivory and antique gold to earthy marsala and midnight blue.
The five-day gala, which started on Wednesday will conclude on Sunday with Rohit Bal drawing the curtains on it.
