Indian industrialist, philanthropist and former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 on October 9. The Industrialist has not only contributed immensely to the economy but the man was also known for his incredible philanthropic work as well. According to the reports, he was in critical condition and was hospitalised. However, he released a statement on his social media a few days ago, stating that he is doing fine and has nothing to worry about. Now, it is reported that he unfortunately has passed away.

Early life
He is the son of Naval Tata, who was adopted by Ratanji Tata, son of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group. Tata was formally adopted by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata, through the J.N. Petit Parsi Orphanage after his parents separated.
Honours and accolades
In 2008, Ratan received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour in India, after receiving the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour in 2000. Tata has also received various state civilian honours like ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ in 2006 for his huge work in the public administration in Maharashtra and ‘Assam Baibhav’ in 2021 for his exceptional contribution towards furthering cancer care in Assam. In 2007, Tata became the first Indian to pilot an F-16 Falcon- a fighter jet.
Philanthropic work
Tata is known for his love of animals, especially dogs, and often shares dog-related posts on Instagram. He has two dogs at home named Tito and Maximus. In 2009, he promised to make the cheapest car, which the middle class of India could afford. He delivered on his promise and launched Tata Nano for ₹1 lakh. He is a pioneer who has given India its first indigenous car, the Tata Indica. The Tata Safari was also something that was born under his leadership.
Relationship and marital status
Tata has never married and has no children. In 2011, Ratan Tata stated, “I came close to getting married four times and each time I backed off in fear or for one reason or another.” He once admitted that while he was working in Los Angeles, there was a time when he fell in love. But because of the 1962 Indo-China War, the girl’s parents were opposed to sending her to India. After which he never got married. Ratan Tata and Simi Garewal had a committed relationship, but it ended without marriage.
