Samridhii Shukla on balancing work & celebrating Navratri
Samridhii values the sense of togetherness that comes with celebrating Navratri. She shares, “In my society, we perform the sthapna of Devi ji, and we do Garba around her. It’s a small society, but it means a lot because it brings everyone together.”
Balancing a busy work schedule while still trying to make time for festive activities is a challenge, but Samridhii makes the effort whenever possible. She says, “I try my best to participate in the Navratri festivities, although it isn’t always easy. Thankfully, Garba often continues until midnight, which makes it possible for me to attend sometimes. And even if I don’t actively participate, it happens in my society and in my locality, so I still get to see and witness it when I’m traveling.“
On asking about fasting during Navratri, Samridhii expresses her wish to fully engage in fasting traditions but acknowledges the practical challenges due to her work as an actress. She says, “I would love to follow dietary restrictions and do some kind of fasting, but because of the nature of our work, we have to stand for long hours, work for extended periods, and maintain a certain energy level. Water and food play a huge role in supporting us through that. So although many of us would like to fast, we often can’t due to the demands of our work,” she concludes.
