The iconic Indian pop band, A Band of Boys, is back, and they’re ready to reignite the magic they created years ago. Karan Oberoi, Sudhanshu Pandey, Chintoo Bhosle, Sherrin Verghese, and Danny Fernandes have regrouped to release a fresh EP, bringing the golden era of original indie music back to life. The band’s latest offering, “Gori Again,” is exclusively available on White Hill Beats, and it promises to be more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane—it’s a celebration of their journey and growth.
For fans who have followed A Band of Boys since their debut, the return of “Gori” in a new avatar is nothing short of a treat. The original “Gori” was a massive hit that resonated with audiences across the country, and its reimagined version, “Gori 2.0,” is set to capture hearts once again. Speaking about this exciting comeback, Sudhanshu Pandey shared his thoughts on reuniting with the band. “Music has always been a driving force in my life, inspiring me to pursue my passions and dreams. It’s something that has the power to motivate anyone to achieve anything. Reuniting with my band wasn’t a huge event; it felt more like a natural and joyful return. I’m genuinely thrilled to be back with the team.”
Karan Oberoi also chimed in, explaining how the reunion wasn’t so much a planned event as it was a natural progression. “Well technically, it really isn’t a reunion but more of a regrouping of sorts. Sudhanshu, who had stepped out of the band after the first album, wasn’t there in the subsequent albums that followed—’Nain Katari,’ ‘Aa Bhi Ja,’ etc. But we all stayed connected and are like a family with its own interpersonal dynamics. So when they had all come over to my place for dinner one day and we jammed and put that video out, it instantly went viral with hordes of fans and our friends in the media urging us to get together again. And that’s when we gave it a serious thought.”
The creative process for “Gori Again” was one of respect and innovation. Rather than simply remixing the original, the band wanted to create something entirely new while maintaining the essence that made the original song so beloved. Sherrin Verghese expressed, “Gori was a landmark song in our lives and in the minds of the audiences. Even from that indie era till today, the song has been receiving so much love and admiration. So when we decided to do a comeback, we knew we had to do it with ‘Gori,’ as people would relate to it and be happy with the fact that, as we return, it is with ‘Gori.’ Also, Meghdeep Bose has done a phenomenal job in recreating the same nostalgic feeling in the new version.”
Danny Fernandes emphasized the band’s creative approach, “Just to clarify here, we don’t like the idea of remixing. So this isn’t one either. It’s a whole new song, with different lyrics. The only thing that’s similar is the rooted ethos of the original, which is why it’s called ‘Gori Again”.
Chintoo Bhosle shared, “Our biggest strengths always have been and will be, our live performances. And that’s exactly what we will be doing post the release of all the videos. We are itching to get back on the concert arena and that’s exactly what we will do! We can’t wait to go back to the audiences and feel that energy and vibe that’s magical for all of us!”
The anticipation is high as A Band of Boys prepares to hit the road again, promising multiple shows and tours. Their reunion is more than just a return to music; it’s a revival of an era that defined original indie music in India. With “Gori Again,” they’re set to make the magic happen once more, and their fans couldn’t be more excited.
