Vahbiz Dorabjee to return on TV in Deewaniyat
“The first thing that attracted me to this show was the role itself. Till today, casting directors have always seen me in positive, bubbly roles or as the ‘chocolate face.’ But for the first time, someone saw me in a negative role, and that’s what really excited me. I wanted to explore a completely different side of myself, and that’s why I jumped at the opportunity,” she said.
“I’ve played negative roles before, but usually only in short segments. This time, I’m portraying a character with a lot more depth. A negative character offers a lot of variety and creative freedom. There are so many shades to explore, from sarcasm to being the ‘killjoy’ in the family. I really enjoyed stepping into this role, and I’m excited to portray her complexity as the show progresses,” the actress added.

Vahbiz Dorabjee further revealed that her character is sarcastic and often dampens the family’s happiness with her negativity. She also admitted that she said yes to the show because she thought that it was a perfect script to make a comeback.
“I hadn’t been on air for quite a while because the offers I received before didn’t feel right. But this time, everything felt perfect—it just clicked. I trusted my gut, and I felt that this was the right project at the right time,” she shared.
“Getting back on set has felt great. I’ve been off-air for a while, but I’ve never taken a break from acting entirely. There were just no offers that felt right for me, until now. This time, everything seemed to fall into place. The industry has changed in terms of content, but my approach to my work has remained the same. I feel like I’ve come back with more experience and a greater sense of clarity about the roles I want to play,” she continued.
Vahbiz concluded by saying that she is excited for the audience to see her in a new avatar, Deewaniyat will premiere on Star Plus on November 11, 2024.
