Bollywood brides redefining fashion with their unconventional Mehendi outfits

Since 2017 till now, Bollywood has seen some of the big fat weddings. From Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli, Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja, to the recently married couples Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra- Nick Jonas-everyone has slayed in with their outfits of pre-wedding and wedding ceremonies. As I was going through all the wedding pictures from Anushka to Priyanka, one thing I have noticed that these Bollywood brides have set a fashion trend be it with their mehendi, sangeet or wedding couture.

As Anushka got married first among the four, I will discuss her mehendi look first. For the mehendi ceremony, the actress donned a fuchsia pink and Indian orange lehenga with hand-embroidered gota and marori. She teamed it with a floral crop top. The outfit was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Also, the jewellery was from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection. She wore a pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. She completed her mehendi look with juttis in handwoven brocade and zardosi.

For the mehendi ceremony, Sonam opted for pastel shades. Her suit was all embroidered with beads and zardosi work and her dupatta had gold work.

For the mehendi celebrations, while every bride opts for vibrant colours,  Sonam chose to wear white. It was a gold and white lehenga choli with a sexy cut at the back. It was designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Kundan choker, jumkis and maang tikka completed her look.

Deepika has turned our heads with her royal mehendi outfit. She wore a powder onion pink kurta with a dupatta of the same colour that had threadwork. Her outfit had many layers. She wore a red shawl over the dupatta. Deepika accessorised herself by wearing heavy danglers, a choker and a multi-layered necklace.

Priyanka was a vision to behold in a multi-hued organdy ensemble by Anu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. She completed her look with heirloom jewellery with fine rubies crafted by Saboo from the same designer. Her look somewhat matched with Anushka’s.
