Aamir Ali is on a roll as 2020 has been a great year for him professionally. His show ‘Naxalbari’ released on November 28 and another web show ‘Black Widows’ is releasing on December 18 on ZEE5.
He played a grey character in ‘Naxalbari’ for which he received immense praise from the audience. In ‘Black Widows’ Aamir will be seen in a different role. On this, he said, “Eddie is very naive and gullible. I hope people to react on this as well. The show again is a crazy show and the thought is very serious where the women are being physically badly treated by their respective husbands and they decide to blow up their husbands which is also crazy. So, it’s a dark comedy. My character is one of the real innocent guys in the whole show as everybody is very smart.”
On how OTT played a huge role in his career, Aamir said, “‘Naxalbari’ was something I selected to do whenever I come on OTT. I didn’t want to make an OTT debut with the same shows which I did in the past. I wanted to break through that which thankfully happened to me and I think I am there to explore different genres. I am lucky to get ‘Naxalbari’ after working hard towards it though. People were not accepting me. Initially, the makers were reluctant but ZEE5 and the producers trusted in me. Now, doing ‘Black Widows’ is also fun. I was not expecting that it would release in the span of 20 days. My 2020 is ending on a good note.”

Aamir started his career with television and then he tried different mediums like he worked in films and now OTT. Talking about these three mediums, he said, “All three are different with lots of creative people. On television, we don’t get much time to prepare ourselves and deliver-be it writers, directors or actors. In the case of OTT shows, I can rework, and over one year there are workshops and we work towards our characters and get time to explore. So, there is a huge difference in doing television and doing OTT shows. Creatively, OTT is the best.”
Aamir is keen to explore new things and surprise his fans. “‘Naxalbari’ has given me the confidence to try different things that I haven’t done in the past,” said the actor. He would also love to do television if offered as it has made his life but right now he is busy exploring OTT shows and he is enjoying it.
