Netflix India’s highly anticipated action fantasy series, Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom, has reportedly encountered a major setback. The Raj & DK-led project, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ali Fazal, is facing allegations of financial fraud of upto several crores. Read on for details
Rakt Bramhand financial fraud
As per a Peepingmoon reprot, Rakt Bramhand has found itself in the midst of a financial scandal as the series’ executive producer has been accused of allegedly embezzling a sum amounting to 2-3 crores from the production budget. A source close to the project revealed that despite only 26 days of filming – shooting kickstarted in September 2024, nearly half of the allocated funds have already been spent. This development has raised serious concerns about the project’s financial mismanagement.
The suspected fraud came to light during a routine audit, which uncovered severe accounting discrepancies and fund misallocation. In response, Netflix and D2R Films have launched an in-depth investigation, scrutinizing both internal operations and financial dealings with third-party vendors. While the details remain confidential, the matter is under active review.
“This is a clear case of financial negligence. Which producer allows an executive producer to sign checks and withdraw large sums without proper oversight? This individual has reportedly engaged in similar activities in past projects as well. Raj & DK and Netflix should have exercised better due diligence before appointing him,” a trade source commented.
Alongside financial concerns, the show is also dealing with creative roadblocks. Reports indicate that director Rahi Anil Barve and writer Sita R. Menon have been making script changes on set, causing friction with Netflix. While Raj & DK have been given extensive creative freedom, the absence of a finalized script has led to disagreements.
Despite these challenges, production is set to resume in April, with the filmmakers preparing for the next outdoor action schedule. Rakt Bramhand was officially announced in July 2024 and is envisioned as a grand-scale action fantasy with a gripping narrative, intense action, and stunning visuals. The project marks Raj & DK’s second collaboration with Netflix following Guns & Gulaabs.
