Annup Sonii has been one of the most prolific actors of the last two decades and he has always managed to come up with some of the most stellar content. His latest short film, ‘The Relationship Manager’ has become the talk of the town all thanks to its superb message on domestic violence. When we spoke to Annup about the same, he opened his heart out about how domestic violence can change only when there is a fundamental change in the society we live in.
Annup Sonii spoke to Bollywood Bubble about ‘The Relationship Manager’ and a lot more topics right here. Have a look:
Talking of domestic violence, Annup said, “A film on such a topic can be a strong medium to put forth an important matter to the forefront. But until the time there is a fundamental change in the way people think, things won’t change. The way our upbringing has been over the years in a male-dominated society is that men go out to work and earn money, and women take care of the household. So when a man hits a woman, people at times give this logic that he must have been frustrated over his office work or must have been having some troubles in his business, and that’s why society tries to justify this act of domestic violence. But if that’s the case, then the woman should also be allowed to hit the man if she has an argument or a fight with her boss or a colleague at work. But is that the case? No.”
We must say, the analogy has been very well put.
Anuup goes on to further add, “So the thinking has to be changed in the people. And how to do that? Well, you’ve to inculcate that in the boys right from childhood. Our generation and the generation next should make sure that when they talk to their boys in the growing up years they should always make sure to emphasise on the fact that this act of violence or any sort of ill-treatment towards a girl or a woman is not acceptable. The change will happen effectively only if right from now itself you start training your generations coming ahead.”
Brilliantly put, we must say!
