TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi reveals if missing ‘Sodhi’ Gurucharan Singh was paid his dues: It was stressful for all of us

Actor Gurucharan Singh, who played Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaah from 2008–2013 and 2014–2020, has been missing since April 22. The actor’s father filed a missing case at Palam Police Station when Singh neither reached Mumbai nor returned home to Delhi and his phone was unreachable. Since the news surfaced, reports of his financial troubles and impending wedding also made the headlines.  Now, TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi has spoken up.

During a recent interaction, Asit spoke about the actor’s disappearance and even revealed his TMKOC dues were paid. Scroll on to know what the producer said.

While speaking with Times Now, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was asked about reports claiming Gurucharan Singh had not received his dues after quitting the show in 2020. To this, Asit Kumarr Modi replied, “It was nothing like that. That was Covid time, and it was stressful for all of us. The shootings had stopped. Even we didn’t know if the show would continue or not. The world was changing around us. Now it’s back to normal routine. That was a difficult moment for all of us.”

During the same conversation, Asit also spoke about Gurucharan’s disappearance. He said, “This is very painful and shocking news. He was very loving towards his family. He took the whole responsibility of his parents on himself. We were never really personal with each other but from what I knew of him, he was a very religious person.” He continued, “He had left TMKOC during Covid, but we always had good relations even after that… Gurucharan always used to meet me with a smile. His disappearance is very shocking, I don’t know why this has happened. The investigation is on, though, so I am sure something good will turn up. I pray to God that he is safe and he picks up his calls.”

Asit on meeting Gurucharan after TMKOC?

On being asked if he met Gurucharan after the actor quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaah in 2020, Asit answered in the affirmative. Adding that Singh had a good bond with his wife, the producer said that they met “some 6-7 months ago”.
