Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! star Nehha Pendse on comic roles: I’m not Kapil Sharma or Bharti Singh to crack jokes

After a long-long wait, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! viewers finally got to see the entry of Anita Bhabhi. Yes, Nehha Pendse finally entered the comedy-drama as Anita in last night’s episode, leaving fans awestruck. Nehha walked into Saumya Tandon’s shoes as Anita for the show. Saumya Tandon decided to bid adieu to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! after five long years, leaving everyone in shock.

While some are missing Saumya as Anita, others have welcomed Nehha with open arms and can’t wait to see her stint in the show. The first look of Nehha as Anita from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! created havoc on social media. Nehha is busy shooting for the show, and giving in her best shot with the Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! team. Recently, Nehha spoke to the Indian Express about her new journey, criticism, doing comedy genre, and more.

Ask her about doing comic roles and if comedy comes naturally to her, Nehha took the cue of popular comedians Kapil Sharma and Bharti Singh to answer the question. Nehha said that every actor has to work hard for every character. But for comedy, she feels it is not natural. But, Nehha thinks Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! is a sitcom, where the situation is funny, so she does not have to do comedy. “Honestly, I am not a Bharti Singh or Kapil Sharma who can crack jokes and make people laugh. A situational comedy setup works much better for me,” Nehha was quoted saying.

Ask her if she is ready to deal with comparisons and criticism that might come along, Nehha revealed that it is already coming her way. She said that people yet have not seen her work as Anita, but it’s coming her way. However, Nehha understands that criticism comes from an emotional space, and viewers are emotionally connected to Saumya (Tandon). “Just like any other new relationship, this too would take some time. And I want to give that space to my audience to find that connectivity, and I know then, they will accept me wholeheartedly,” shared Nehha.

Meanwhile, Nehha also urged people to give her time to get into the skin of Anita’s character and do justice to it, before drawing comparisons.
