Bharti Singh issues apology for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs for ‘beard’ joke

Comedian Bharti Singh is faking flak for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs. The reason is her old video where she is making fun of having ‘daadi mooch’ (beard and moustache). The comedian says when you drink milk and put beard in your mouth, it tastes like sewaiyan. She also talks about men having lice in their beards.

This video of Bharti Singh is viral on the internet and people are brutally tolling her for the same. SGPC has also taken strict action against her. Finally reacting to the brutal trolling Bharti has issued an apology.

Bharti Singh took to her Instagram handle and sharing the video apologised and wrote, “Main comedy karti hoon logo ko khush karne ke liye na ki kisi ka dil dukhane ke liye. Agar meri kisi baat se koi hurt hua ho tho maaf kar dena aapni behan samjh ke #punjabi #proudpunjabi #love #respect”

In the video, Bharti is clarifying her stand as well as apologising for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.

She said, “A video of mine is getting viral for the last few days. I’ve been sent that video and people have messaged me about that. I was told that I’ve made fun of beards and moustaches. I have not made fun of the Sikhs’ religious beliefs in the viral video. Nowhere have I said anything about any caste or religion. You can watch the video. I’ve not said that Punjabi people keep beards and we have a problem with that. I was having a genuine conversation and doing comedy with my friend.”

She further added that she apologises profusely if her joke had offended anyone. Bharti said that she will never make fun of the Sikh community since she herself hailed from Amritsar.
