‘Bicchoo Ka Khel’ actor Gagan Anand on OTT censorship: If content is regulated, it would dampen the creativity of content creators

Actor Gagan Anand who is playing the character of Rajveer in the series ‘Bicchoo Ka Khel’, talks about censorship on OTT. He says, “It’s pointless to talk about censorship on OTT. Because anything you see on OTT is easily available on the internet. So saying some content is making you uncomfortable is not justified. If OTT censorship comes into being, then creative minds will be regulated and we will again be heading to regressive content on the platforms. Not only it will affect the content but also the audience will only start seeing one kind of content, that’s currently now on television.”

On being asked if OTT is a threat to films he says, “Content is the King. Be it films, tv shows or ott, where the content is great, the audience will move its course there. Yes, there is no denial that the lockdown has seen a surge in the OTT viewership. I believe the main reason is it’s very comfy for the audience and it removes the hassle of going outside to watch a film and it’s pocket friendly also. Yes, I can say that OTT is the future.”

In addition, he says, “I am open to working on all mediums. But I am very choosy about the scripts. I want to play a strong character which may have a 1-minute presence on the screen but should have an impeccable impression on people minds”.
