Roadies 5.0 and Bigg Boss 2 winner Ashutosh Kaushik has sought a direction from the Delhi High Court to the Centre and Google that some of his videos, photos and articles on his past altercations be removed from online platforms. The reality show star has claimed that these videos of his past are still having a ‘detrimental effect’ on his life. Ashutosh has invoked his ‘right to be forgotten’ and has approached the Delhi HC.

Ashutosh had had his fare share of run-ins with the law. Videos, pics and articles on his drunk driving case of 2009 are all over the internet. The actor has claimed that he is still suffering from the psychological pain for the acts that he committed a decade ago. Talking about his petition, Ashutosh told ETimes, “I did something wrong in my past, I paid a price, I was punished for it, but personally, that is affecting me till now. Anyone who would see those videos would assume that I am still doing those kind of things (fights). Mujhse zyada bura meri mummy ko lagta tha (More than me, my mother would feel bad). She would ask me, ‘Ye kya hai Aashu?’ I could only tell her ‘main kya karun, mujhse galti ho gayi, uski mujhe saza bhi mil gayi par bhugat aaj tak raha hu (what should I do, I made a mistake and I am still paying the price for it)’. My mom asked me ‘Ye hatenge kaise ye bata (how do we get these things taken down)?’ I could not bear my family suffering because of this and that’s why I decided to go to the court.”

In his petition, Ashutosh has claimed that whenever his name is searched on internet photos and articles relating to his past life are shown on various search engines. He has urged the court to direct Google and other search engines to remove the posts, videos and photos relating to him. However, the legal team representing Google has stated that the right to be forgotten was not yet a law in the country.

The actor also admits that he did commit some mistakes in the past for which he has already received his punishment. However he doesn’t wish to suffer for his mistakes all his life. The Bigg Boss winner also shared that due to those old articles he lost out on several prospective matches.

Last year, Ashutosh tied the knot on his house’s terrace amidst Covid-19 lockdown.
