Dipika Kakar on RETURNING to Sasural Simar Ka 2: Had rejected several shows, but SSK made me what I’m today

TV actress and Bigg Boss 12 winner Dipika Kakar is all set to make her come back with the second season of popular family drama Sasural Simar Ka. The show got her fame, money, and an enormous amount of success. Dipika played the character of Simar for 6 consecutive years. Now, that she returns to the character again, Dipika shared, “this Simar will be more strong and have a lot of new shades.”

In a recent interview with the Times of India, Dipika Kakar opened up about doing Sasural Simar Ka 2 and her return as Simar. She reiterated that she has ‘no qualms in playing the same role again, and credited her success to the show. “I have never thought that I won’t go back to a show or down the same path. I was in a mood to take a break and had turned down a couple of shows in the last six months. But then I got a call for Sasural, that show has made me what I am today,” Dipika told TOI.

On her reprising the role, Dipika shared that she always maintained Simar to be a part of her and she will always be alive in me. Though she has essayed Simar for six long years, Dipika says that she will continue to live it to date. “People in my Sasural still address me as Simar. Initially, they connected with me because of the show,” Dipika shared.

While the show enjoyed popularity among the audience for Simar’s character at the same time faced a lot of criticism for its unrealistic and peculiar tracks including the one when Simar herself turned into a mosquito. On facing backlash and trolls, she said that she was not affected by it. “You can praise us or diss us, but you can’t ignore us. So, that’s a win. At the end of the day, what matters are the ratings. Aur agar woh aa rahi hai toh matlab hai ki log show dekh rahe hain,” she opined.

Further, she also questioned viewers’ hypocrisy of not making fun of similar tracks in a horror film. “But you will talk about it when you watch it on a daily soap. Entertainment factor toh dono mein hain,” Dipika concluded.
