Divyanka Tripathi is one of the most loved actresses on Television. Besides her stellar characters, Divyanka is also known to be completely fearless in her opinions, proof of which we have often seen on her social media account. But when you are starting out in the industry, you meet all sorts of people and tumbling on a casting couch experience is a horrid turn you don’t want to make. When we sat down for an exclusive chat with Divyanka Tripathi for Xtraordinary You on Bollywood Bubble, the actress recalled her casting couch experience where she was threatened that they will ruin her career she did not agree.

Divyanka told Bollywood Bubble, “During your first break, people take advantage of you in many different ways. I think it is important that you go through it. You go through all these weird phases, where you use your brain and maintain your sanity walking forward. For example, contractually, you get looted. Going from that phase to some production person falling for me and trying to entice me. Being not interested, hence, he decided to take revenge that he will ruin my life. Gave wrong news about me, troubled me; so that was a revenge mode.”

The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress further said that she was too innocent for the things that were coming her way and she was unaware, “I was very naive then, was almost a kid. I didn’t know people talk like that, I just knew what is wrong and right. Then I got an offer from somewhere, that you have to be with this director and you will get a big break. But why me? I was told that ‘you are really intellectual, this, that.’ Selling it like my life will be made just by that and everyone is doing it.”

Talking about the casting couch experience, Divyanka said that she was well educated by her family to not fall for such traps, “This is before #MeToo happened. They will convince you in such a way that everyone in the industry is doing it. If you don’t do it then you will stay behind. Nothing can happen in your career. In fact, they have sometimes gone to the level that if you don’t do it then we will ruin your career. But I would have a lot of fun because I knew this was all rubbish. I had seen it in the beginning, I had got my first job based on my talent. So if I got my first job based on my talent, so the next will also be the same.”
