EXCLUSIVE: Anupamaa actor Paras Kalnawat breaks silence on his controversial exit from the show

Paras Kalnawat became a household name with the Hindi fiction show Anupamaa where he played the loving son to Rupali Ganguly’s titular character. However, when the actor chose to participate in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10, he was shown the door, which the makers made official through a statement. Now, in a recent interaction with Bollywood Bubble, the actor has broken silence on his exit from the show and the whole controversy surrounding it.

When asked if it was difficult getting this exciting new offer from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, while he had to leave Anupamaa at the same time, Paras Kalnawat shared, “It was not that difficult I would say but aapko apne faisle khud lene padte hain life mein, maine kahin na kahin apna faisla le liya tha. Maine kahin na kahin mind mein soch liya tha ki mujhe Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa ka hissa banna hai and that will come with a baggage obviously. Aap keh sakte ho ki agar aapki us cheez mein kuch positive cheez hai, to negative cheez bhi hogi. To bahut saari cheezein hui jo nahi honi chahiye thi, definitely nahi honi chahiye thi. Us cheez ke baare mein kabhi socha nahi tha, mujhe bas itna pata tha ki mujhe is show ka hissa banna hai. (It wasn’t that difficult as you have to take decisions for yourself and somewhere I had decided that I wanted to be a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and it will come with a baggage obviously. If there is something positive, something negative would be there too. A lot of things shouldn’t have happened definitely. I never thought about them, I just knew I wanted to be a part of this show).”

He also addressed the controversy surrounding his exit and being blamed by the makers for his unprofessionalism. He said, “Controversy to nahi kahunga main ye saari cheezon ko. Main to yahi kahunga jo hota hai ache ke liye hota hai. Definitely complications the but jo bhi kuch hua main maanta hun ki wo sab cheez kuch achi cheez ke liye hi hua hoga. And jahaan par har koi meri tareef karta aaya hai itne saalon se, jis show mein part reh kar har insan meri tareef karta aaya hai, wo saari cheezein media mein already hain. Wo saare interviews hain jahaan par makers ne khud meri tareef ki hai, co-actors ne khud meri tareefein ki hain, so people know me. The world knows me and I don’t want to prove myself out there. And ye reality show hai, yahaan asli chehre dikhne wale hain logon ke, log apne aap jaan jayenge kaun kaisa hai. And mujhe fir uske alawa kuch prove karne ki zarurat nahi hai. I am just gonna give my 100 percent here. (I won’t call it a controversy. I will just say whatever happens is for good. Definitely there were complications, but I believe that it must have all happened for something good. For years, people have been praising me for that show, and it is all out there. There are interviews of the makers and my co-actors praising me, so people and the world knows me, I don’t want to prove myself. And this is a reality show, people will see everyone’s real faces and understand who is what. Other than that, I don’t need to prove anything).”
