EXCLUSIVE: Did you know Zaid Darbar’s filmy proposal to Gauahar Khan was on a Salman Khan song?

Lovebirds Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar got married in the presence of their family and a few friends on December 25 last year. Before they made their relationship official, the couple had tried their best to keep their romance under wraps.

In Bollywood Bubble’s chat show, Chemistry 101 we got the lovely jodi together as they spilled the beans on everything private and personal. Gauahar also shared how Zaid proposed to her within one month of dating.

Just like their fans even we were eager to know who proposed first, answering our question Zaid said, “Of course, I proposed. I proposed her within one month.” To which Gauahar added, “Every girl has this image of a dream proposal right from her teens. Will someone go down on one knee for me and all that stuff. All those expectations were ticked for me and I literally cried when Zaid proposed. “

Spilling details of how he planned the entire proposal, Zaid revealed that he took his family’s help. “It was very filmy. It was her birthday and I had kept a blue themed party of which she had no idea about. But I told her to wear blue. We played dumb charades and I decided to propose to her while playing the game with my entire family,” he said.

At which Gauahar chipped in, “Everyone from his family came to me and told that today we all will play dumb charades. And they all know I love games. I was very happy about it. In that excitement, I didn’t even realize that there were two teams out of which my team had just four people while the other team had 12! All I cared about was that Zaid was in my team. That’s all I cared about.”

Further revealing how things unfolded that day, Zaid said, “I was supposed to be the second person to guess the movie name. It was then when I had planned to propose. I got so nervous. I couldn’t even recall what I had to do despite planning and even rehearsing the entire thing. I gestured towards my family that I won’t be able to go ahead with the plan.”

“His face paled. He had red eyes and had a fever too. And I was like touching his forehead and telling him, ‘You have a fever’. And I am thinking Covid chal raha hai bukhar chal rahi hai kya ho gaya. And I am telling his mom, ‘Please crocin milegi kya?. Aunty said, “Nahi nahi beta, usne birthday gift nahi laya na aapke liye isiliye woh nervous ho raha hai.’ I was like itna nervous ho raha hai? Kya hogaya itna? I even fed him the crocin then,” Gauahar recalled.

After almost everyone’s turn in the game, Zaid finally went and he had to act out the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Gauahar was still unaware of what’s going to transpire next. She was all gung ho about guessing the film’s name correctly and Zaid’s cousin was the only one trying to help her guess the name just so that everything appears authentic.

Further sharing about what happened next, Gauahar said, “So the film was Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. I was like come on baby you can do this. If you see the video it’s so funny as I am more interested in the cake. I am eating cake, and everyone’s like, ‘kitna cake kha rahi hai’. I love cake by the way. I was trying my best to guess the first word, ‘Main, mera mere liye, mujhe’ Zaid’s cousin got so fed up that she said, ‘Mujhse?’. Then I said Mujhse and Zaid nodded. I blurted out ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge?” And then he is like, ‘No no no no. Piche jao’.  The moment I said ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ his team played the song ‘Kab tak jawani chupaogi rani’. So I am thinking like ‘oh god’. I am so embarrassed, his mom is here. I was thinking that these people are just trying to pull my leg. So ended up burying my face in my hands and laughing.”

Zaid quipped, “And then I got the best time to remove the ring from my pocket and I went down on my knee”. The actress signed off by saying, “And I opened my eyes and I saw him on his knees, I was like ‘Oh god’. For three minutes he was on his knees and I cried. Later I said yes.”
