EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Winget on battling perception: People felt I was nasty, unapproachable and intimidating

Jennifer Winget is undoubtedly one of the most popular and talented actresses on Indian television. She started her career as a child actor and rose to fame with shows like Saraswatichandra, Kasautii Zindagi Kay and more. The actress has also marked her presence on the OTT platform with her web show Code M.

Now in the third season of Her Story, Jennifer Winget in a candid chat with Bollywood Bubble host Nayandeep Rakshit has revealed how she was considered ‘nasty’ and ‘unapproachable’ by many who knew her.

Jennifer opened up on being considered nasty and intimidating by many. She said, “Unfortunately, yeah and that has come to me a lot,  we thought you were a nasty person also unapproachable and intimidating. But I am very happy with those tags.  I’m not a fool okay just because I’m smiling and talking to you nicely doesn’t mean that you can say whatever you want. So me being a Gemini, I have extremes of both. But one thing my father has taught me that do not wash your dirty linen in public. Especially we being in an industry where everything is under scrutiny at all points. I have kept that side to myself and to my lovely friends and my family. This  side is different and I don’t want the two to meet. I am very clear about that.”

She further opened up on judgements and said, “I was very underconfident and could not even speak properly. I also used to hate putting on makeup and going for auditions with my dad. My father used to pick me up from school and I used to change in the car, apply some cheap make-up.  I also had acne all over my face. We used to go for these auditions to Mehboob studio or wherever. I was around 15 or 16 something, at that time you are a little too sensitive to any criticism.  So physically you know these physical uh judgments for me never really matter to be very honest. Yes I had a problem with my acne it’s so stupid and I dealt with that okay.”
