Mohit recalled one such incident and continued, “Ek hi baar toh aisa bhi hua tha, I was in Shirdi with my wife. And, somebody just came over, ‘Meri biwi hai, isko daat ke dikhao’. Maine kaha, paagal ho gaye ho kya aap log? Are you serious? Maine kaha, please relax, it’s just a character I’m not like that in real life (Once, it happened as such. I was in Shirdi with my wife. And, somebody just came over, ‘This is my wife, scold her and show’. I was like, are you gone mad? Are you serious? I said, ‘please relax, it’s just a character. I’m not like that in real life).”
During the conversation, the Doli Armano Ki actor also reflected on how the audience enjoyed watching an abusive husband on the screen. He said, “Aur, like the way I used to torture my wife, it’s so strange. People used to like it. Because, kaho na kaho, sadly kahi patriarchal hai na humhara zamana (Because, say it or not, sadly, we live in a patriarchal society).”
