Gaurav Khanna was not the first choice for Anuj in Anupamaa?

Gaurav Khanna is currently being immensely loved by the Anupamaa fans for his role of Anuj Kapadia. He plays the love interest of Anupamaa played by Rupali Ganguly. Anuj and Anupamaa’s innocent chemistry is much loved by the fans and they can’t get over it. But did you know, that Gaurav Khanna was not the first choice for the role of Anuj by the makers and it was offered to four other actors before finally coming to Khanna?

As per a report by Telly Chakkar, Gurmeet Choudhary was offered Anuj’s role but he refused the character as he could not relate to it. Next on the list was Yeh Hai Mohabattein star Karan Patel who is one of the most loved actors on television. But Karan Patel also refused due to his personal commitment.

Also offered Anuj’s role was Mann Ki Aawaz Pratigya star Arhaan Behll but he too turned down Anuj’s role as he had other personal commitments. Lastly, offered the role was Gautam Gulati who was much loved by the nation after he bagged the trophy of Bigg Boss. But he turned down the role as he was moving from TV to films.

Well, looks like things turned out for the best as Gaurav and Rupali make for an excellent on-screen pair. Talking about Anupamaa, Gaurav had told Spotboye, “I always wanted to work with Rajan Shahi for the longest time and the moment I got the chance to play this role I was really happy and grasped it with both hands. Appreciation for my character is great and people are loving my character. Wherever I go people have started addressing me as Anuj and it feels amazing. Some come and tell me I have made spectacles back in fashion. I used it just to add age touch to my character and to look it more mature. I am happy that it has worked so well. I hope the audience keeps loving the show.”
