‘Mirzapur’ that was streamed on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 changed the narrative of web-series in India. The show has a huge fan base worldwide and every character is etched in our memories and they created history when it comes to fandom. Akhandanand Tripathi as ‘Kaleen Bhaiya’ (Pankaj Tripathi), Munna (Divyendu Sharmaa), Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu (Vikrant Massey) enjoy the same power structure. But when we talk about Dimpy (Harshita Gaur) or Golu’s (Shweta Tripathi), they had very limited scope and depth in the first season and they ranked way below in the power structure as compared to these four characters.
In a virtual conversation with Harshita Gaur, we asked her if we can expect her character opening up more in Season 2, to which she said, “Every character is progressing from what they were and progressing in a way where something has happened and how that incident had changed their lives. You will see how every character deals with it. If you are talking about girls being in a low power structure, this time you will see we have given more weightage to what girls or women should stand up for things, themselves or whatever. So, there is progress in that way.”

Talking about the female characters that are written these days, Harshita said, “I think writing is the most important thing. It’s the essence of any project. If you are considering women issues and just empowering them in the scripts, so I think we are really in the right direction.”
‘Mirzapur 2’ started streaming from October 22 on Amazon Prime Video.
