Indian Idol 12: Here’s why Neha Kakkar will SKIP the grand finale

Neha Kakkar, who was seen judging Indian Idol 12 till May 2021, excused herself after the programme was shifted to Daman due to Mumbai constraints. Later, Neha recorded 1-2 episodes in Daman, but her sister, musician Sonu Kakkar, soon took her place as a judge on the show. Indian Idol 12 will get its winner on August 15. Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Shanmukhapriya, Mohd Danish, Nihal Tauro, and Sayli Kamble are the top 6 contestants of this season.

However, as the finale is approaching, sources close to ETimes have confirmed that Neha Kakkar would not be returning for Indian Idol 12’s grand finale. It is also said that Neha has been a judge on Indian Idol for the previous seasons and wanted to take a break. She has put in a lot of effort over the years and has accomplished a lot. She now wishes to spend more time with her husband Rohanpreet. That’s one of the reasons she didn’t stay as a judge on Indian Idol after the team returned to Mumbai. Sonu, her sister, has stepped in and will remain on the show until the finish.

While there is no official confirmation from the makers or the singer, her social media suggests that Neha is enjoying travelling with her husband Rohanpreet. Neha and Rohanpreet got married in October 2020.

The show is currently judged by Himesh Reshammiya, Sonu Kakkar and Anu Malik. It is anchored by Aditya Narayan. In the next weekend episode of Indian Idol season 12, the entire team will be seen celebrating and honouring veteran actor Randhir Kapoor from the Golden Age of Cinema. The show will celebrate the ‘Randhir Kapoor Special’ episode by singing his blockbuster songs.

The current season came under a negative light when singer Amit Kumar made shocking revelations about the show, claiming that he was paid to exaggerate the candidates’ performances. Following this, Sonu Nigam, a member of the judges’ panel for four seasons, broke silence on the controversy. He criticized Aditya Narayan and Manoj Muntashir for supporting the show rather than Amit. Nigam advised them to show some courtesy to the senior singer. Kumar Sanu, on the other side, has come out in support of Nigam.
