Hounded by negativity and abuse, many celebs from the Bollywood and television industries have quit social media. Recently, Iqbal Khan had also quit Twitter but he is still on Instagram and Facebook. We had a conversation with him for his web series ‘Crackdown’ that had released on September 24 on Voot Select. Also, he shared his decision to quit the micro-blogging site.

Iqbal said, “I quit Twitter because I put my opinions there and they abuse your mother, father, children and wife. Social media has given people the power to say things for which they should be punched on their faces. That is what I don’t like about social media. Although I must admit that these negative people are much lesser than the positive ones atleast on my Instagram and Facebook. I have gone off Twitter as it was too toxic for me.”

He added, “I noticed that women are much calmer and mature than men.”

Iqbal also slammed those who often target Bollywood celebrities on social media. He said, “I wish people diverted this kind of anger and attention to the people who hold offices and responsibility for our states, countries and our cities. The way people get after actors, for example, they got after Amitabh Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, Swara Bhasker and all. My question is ‘Who are these people? Are they Chief Minister or Prime Minister? Are they President, MPs, corporators who build your roads? Have they promised jobs in the country? Are they responsible for the potholes on your roads? Who are they? Divert this energy and attention to people who will make a difference.”
