In March, in an episode of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, host Kapil cracked a joke on the Kayastha community’s God- Lord Chitragupta. The community got offended by it and they and demanded an apology from Kapil. The Akhil Bharatiya Kayastha Mahasabha of Madhya Pradesh even threatened to boycott his show and file a complaint against him after the lockdown gets lifted. Kapil has now apologised to the community on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
In his tweet, Kapil asked sorry to the community and said that his intention was not to hurt anyone.

Earlier, in April Sony TV also issued an apology saying that it was neven their ‘intent’ to hurt the sentiments of the community.
The tweet read: “We sincerely regret that the sentiments of some of our viewers may have been hurt by certain references/comments on The Kapil Sharma Show aired on Saturday, 28th March ’20. We respect their sentiments and wish to assure them that was never our intent.”
