At the beginning of March, rumours of Kuch Toh Hai going off-air shocked everyone. Starring Krishna Mukherjee and Harsh Rajput in the lead roles, the supernatural thriller premiered on February 7. However, within a few weeks, speculations of the Naagin 5 spin-off bidding adieu started doing the rounds. And the latest shocker is, Kuch Toh Hai Naagin Ek Naye Rang Me has already gone off-air. Yes! The show aired its last episode on March 21, with an abrupt ending merely within 1 and half months.
Kuch Toh Hai centered around vampires and wolves. The show started well but did not achieve expected TRP numbers, and thus was pulled down. Not only viewers, but even the actors are disappointed with Kuch Toh Hai going off-air so soon. In a recent interview with the Times of India, Krishna Mukherjee expressed her disappointment about the show’s unexpected abrupt end.
Krishna feels Kuch Toh Hai had a premature ending. She thinks it was important for the characters to establish and connect with the viewers. “Then if the story didn’t click, they could have taken a decision. It was a new cast and we all deserved a little more time to make a connection,” she opined.
The actress also thinks that the Indian Television audience is not ready to accept different shows. She feels people still want to watch saas-bahu dramas. And even shows with different concepts have saas-bahu angle as a part of it. “After five seasons of Naagin, the makers decided to do something different and experiment with the concept of vampires and wolves, but viewers did not warm up to it. Audiences are just not ready to watch something different.”

Krishna started-off by playing an angel on Kuch Toh Hai, but eventually donned the avatar of a Naagin. However, the actress reveals that she was not aware of essaying Naagin on the show initially, but things changed with the twists on the show. “I am happy that I got to play the lead role and the production house gave me this beautiful opportunity after Ye Hai Mohabbatein. It is a dream for every actress to play a lead role and I gave it my best. It was a learning experience and felt like working with family,” Krishna said.
Now, after Kuch Toh Hai’s closure, Krishna is looking forward to her new beginnings and is waiting for an interesting project to come up her way soon. “We will work even more hard to connect with audiences in the future,” she signed off.
