#RIPMilkhaSingh: Hina Khan, Surbhi Jyoti, Aasif Sheikh and others pay tribute to Indian sprint legend

Milkha Singh, 91, passed away due to post Covid-19 complications on Friday (June 18) night after a month-long battle with the deadly virus. The Flying Sikh had tested positive for Coronavirus on May 20 and was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali on May 24. He was discharged on May 30 but again he was admitted to the Covid ward at the Nehru Hospital Extension at PGIMER on June 3 as his oxygen levels dropped. He had tested negative on Thursday earlier this week and was shifted to the medical ICU. On Friday evening, his health deteriorated as he had fever and oxygen levels too dropped.

The entire country is mourning the death of the sprint legend. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to other dignitaries to Bollywood and TV celebs, everyone has paid tribute to Milkha Singh on social media.

Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actor Aasif Sheikh is heartbroken to hear the news of Milkha Singh’s demise. He tweeted, “Heartbreaking to heart the news of #MilkhaSingh ji’s demise. Rest in peace sir.”

Hina Khan took to her Instagram Story and wrote, “Rest in Peace Legend Om Shanti”.

Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguli also condoled the death of the legendary Indian athlete. “A legend , an inspiration, the pride of our nation Sadgati #MilkhaSingh #OmShanti”, she wrote.

Karanvir Bohra shared Milkha Singh’s photos in his reel and wrote, “Rest in peace legend #milkhasingh.”

For the unversed, Milkha Singh’s 85-year-old wife Nirmal Kaur also died of Covid-related complications in Mohali on Sunday. Milkha Singh will be cremated in Chandigarh on Saturday evening and it will take place at 5 pm today, a spokesperson for the family, said.
