Mumbai court grants bail to comedian Bharti Singh and husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa in drugs case

The Narcotics Control Bureau had arrested comedian Bharti Singh on November 21. The following day, Bharti’s husband Haarsh Limbachiya was also arrested by the anti-drugs agency. According to the NCB officials, both Bharti and her husband had admitted to consuming weed. The couple was then sent to judicial custody till December 4. They were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).

The latest report in this drugs case states that the NDPS court has granted bail to Bharti and Haarsh.

The bail hearing of Bharti and Haarsh took place today. Giving an update on their bail hearing, news agency ANI tweeted, “Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa granted bail by a Special NDPS court in Mumbai.

According to a report in NDTV, talking about their bail, the couple’s lawyer Aiyaz Khan said, “Both of them have been granted bail by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on furnishing a bail bond of ₹ 15,000 each. No reply was filed by the NCB yet. A notice was issued to them on Sunday itself.”

Previously, NCB had even raided the couple’s residence and office where they apparently recovered 86.5 gm of cannabis during their search. Following their search, the couple was arrested after being grilled by the officials for long hours. “Both Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa accepted consuming ganja,” the NCB had said in a statement.

Bharti’s name in the case cropped when NCB interrogated a drug peddler recently. The anti-drug agency’s probe of drug consumption and supply in Bollywood intensified after the death of 34-year-old actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Ever since Sushant’s death, several A-listers from the entertainment world have been grilled by the NCB.
