Bigg Boss 17 winner and stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui never ceases a chance to be in the headlines. He has found himself getting mired in legal trouble yet again. Munawar recently was briefly detained late on Tuesday in Mumbai following a raid on a hookah bar. However, he was later released.

According to police, the hookah parlour in the city’s Fort area was being run illegally and ₹ 4,400 in cash and nine hookah pots worth ₹ 13,500 were seized during the raid on Tuesday. The raid began around 10.30 pm on Tuesday and continued till 5 am of Wednesday, an official said. There are also claims that the patrons at the bar were using Tobacco based hookah under the guise of herbal hookah. As per details, Faruqui was booked under The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 or COTPA, 2003 along with 14 others.
A police officer told the news agency PTI, “We detained Faruqui and others, but they were later allowed to go as the sections slapped against them were bailable”.

This is not the first time that the comedian has had a brush with the law. In 2021, he spent over a month in the Indore Central Jail. He was arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a comedy show. The comedian was granted bail days a month after his arrest. Recently his close friend Elvish Yadav was also arrested by Noida Police as he was accused in the snake venom case. However, he was later set free on bail. Munawar had even reacted to his case.
