Uorfi Javed is one of the most popular celebrities in the industry. She often grabs attention due to her fashion choices, social media posts and more. The actress recently joined us for the first episode of Let’s Talk With Bollywood Bubble and opened up about her childhood, casting couch experience, facing rejections and a lot more. During the candid conversation, Uorfi also recalled being called a prostitute by her landlord.

The actress called Mumbai ‘a city of dreams’ before opening up about her struggles. Given that she’s a Muslim, Uorfi revealed that it was quite difficult to find a house. She shared, “As a Muslim, it’s a lot of struggle. I used to face a lot of difficulties.”
Uorfi added, “Jab bhi mein ghar dekhne jaa rahi hu, budget ka joh bhi hai mere, pehli cheez toh they’ll be like ‘ha thik hai par single ladki, Muslim, aur actor’ ye teen cheezein bohot mushkil deti hai’. Yeh teen cheezein red flag hai. (Whenever I used to step out for house-hunting, first thing is they’ll be like ‘You’re a single lady, Muslim and an actor’. These three things are a very big red flags).”

Furthermore, recalling an incident, Uorfi shared, “Ek bande ne mujhe ghar final kar dia. Aaj shayad contract sign karna tha, toh maine di Aadhar card ID and then he was like ‘Uorf? (There was this guy we finalised everything. And it was time to sign a contract, so I gave him my Aadhar card ID and then he was like ‘Uorf?’)’ Maine kaha ‘Haa’ Toh usne kaha ‘Oh, mujhe laga Urvashi ya aisa kuch’ (I told him ‘yes’. So, then he responded saying ‘Oh, I thought it’s Urvashi’)”.
Uorfi added that given that she is a Muslim, he cancelled the deal right away. It was then Uorfi revealed that the landlord even called her a ‘prostitute’. “It’s a lot of struggle in Bombay,” concluded Uorfi.
