Navya actress Somya Seth opens up on having suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy

Actress Somya Seth made her acting debut with Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal and there was no looking back. She later featured in shows like Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat and Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat to name a few.

Somya got married to Arun Kapoor in 2015. Two years later, she was expecting her first child. In a recent interview, the actress opened about having suicidal thoughts she was having when she was expecting her first child.

In an interview with ETimes, Somya revealed that back in 2017 when she was living in Virginia despite being pregnant she didn’t eat for several days. It was only after her parents came to her rescue that things fell into place.

Recalling that hard time, Somya told the portal, “In 2017, I was married and pregnant and trying to figure out ways to commit suicide until my parents came to Virginia. They tried to help me and brought me back from the brink. I remember this one time when I was standing in front of the mirror, unable to recognise my own self. I was completely bruised. I didn’t eat for several days even though I was pregnant. I couldn’t dare to look at the mirror for a few days and when I finally did, I just wanted to end my life.”

Further sharing how her son Ayden saved her life, the actress shared, “However, I was pregnant. And that’s when I felt that if I die my child would not know how much I love him/her. He would have to live without a mother for the rest of his life. I could kill myself but could never think of harming my own child. So yes, that’s how my son Ayden saved my life.” Somya and Arun got divorced in 2019. They share joint custody of their son Ayden. The actress still lives in Virginia.

Speaking about her plans to return to the small screen, Somya said, “I enjoy acting, It was such a fun and creative outlet for me. I am passionate about it, being able to play different roles makes me so happy. Since I am not actively looking for projects I can’t say when I’ll be on screen again.”

Somya and Shaheer Sheikh’s show Navya recently completed 10 years.
