Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia on saying yes to Bigg Boss 16
Talking about saying yes to Bigg Boss 16 at a time when she was still receiving treatment for depression, Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia said, “Bigg Boss as an opportunity came my way after I wrapped up ‘Choti Sardaani’ in April. May June and July were just me vacationing, I even visited my brother. I think I was very conflicted at that very moment when I had to enter the house. I was like I am not sure. I had mixed opinions around me in terms of some people saying that it was a great opportunity, some people even said it was a great opportunity but you are not in the right headspace. Simultaneously, this was also happening when I had shifted.”
She continued, “It also happened when I had already realised while being on anti-depressants for a year that I could not be dependent on anything in life. And I needed to cut off. So that had already shifted from allopathy to homoeopathy. And I was conflicted, but like I said destiny. I feel like in retrospect when I think, shayad logo ko laga hoga ki my emotions were hyphened. I was sensitive AF. And maybe like, I know for a fact that I was not in the best space like I could have been in life. But in retrospect when I think of it, I feel like, you know sometimes your dream is really big, but momentarily things around you kind of kept you away from even thinking about it.”
Nimrrit on BB16 helping her understand herself
Talking about how the Salman Khan-hosted reality show helped her realise how strong she is, she said, “I feel like if Bigg Boss had not happened, I would have never realised how truly strong I am. To be in an environment like that, and I kid you not, just to come out like. Main apne medicines lekar nahi gaye thi and I was like Nimrrit if you don’t get off them now you can never get off them ever. You just have to let go. So I think for me, that entire process of 4 and a half months you don’t have your phone, you don’t have access to anybody. You see people come over during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode but whatever. Like there was so much time to just self-reflect. I may not have done the best job as per some people but for me, I think I did brilliantly. I figured out so much about myself on that journey.”
She added, “And sometimes you know you need that shock in your life like I feel like was so busy paddling in my little pond that I had forgotten about the ocean.”
Summarizing her experience on the show and talking about what it gave her, Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia said, “Sometimes, when you are put in uncomfortable situations, you realise what you are capable of, you realise what you truly want. And I think that is what I gained from that entire experience. However, dynamic I may say it had been – because there were ups and downs, it’s a tough house, and there are so many opinions thrown at you.
