In the showbiz or modelling industry, there are many such stories that remain behind the screen or never get disclosed. One such is casting couch. They are powerful film producers or directors or authorities who practice casting couch with aspiring actors or models. While some come out in open to share their ordeals, some brush their experiences under the carpet.

When we asked Paras Chhabra (who has been a model, actor and part of many reality shows) if he had ever faced groupism or favouritism in the industry, he said, “Of course, all the time” adding, “When I was doing modelling, there was a group of big designers who do casting couch all the time and they don’t give you work without casting couch. Even they know you, they won’t give you work. They will make fun of you and send you back. It happened with most of my friends and I was scared of doing ramp shows. So, I have done only print shoots while doing modelling. I have done shows where there are clean works.”

He further said, “Most of the big brand fashion shows do casting couch and groupism also exists. There are many channel heads, coordinators, directors casting and production people who make young boys do anything and harass them. Even after the MeToo movement, these things are happening.”
