‘Hatim’ actor Rahil Azam is currently portraying the role of DSP Anubhav Singh in ‘Maddam Sir’. He has entertained the audience for over two decades with his shows like ‘Ek Tukdaa Chand Ka’, ‘Babul Ka Aangan Chootey Na’, ‘Ek Tha Chander Ek Thi Sudha’, ‘Dil Jaise Dhadke Dhadkne Do’ and others.
Rahil opened up about favouritism in the industry, types of roles he wants to play and more.
When asked if favouritism exists in the industry, Rahil said, “Favouritism exists everywhere. It perpetuates in lieu of an obligation, a soft corner or selfish motive. More than favouritism, I feel that sometimes overhype precedes favouritism, due to which mediocre talent is overrated and par excellence talent is underrated. This disparity between the two measuring polars of talent. Therefore there is a lot of really great talent being wasted. But now with the enormous platform of OTT, the real talent is being appreciated and explored furthermore.”

Rahil also said that he was once replaced in a show. He said, “In the very first show of my career I was replaced in the 50th episode reason being a “non-actor” and I think that was the best thing that happened in my career. That set back motivated me to explore my craft for the last 20 years.”
Further talking about the roles he wants to do and the way he chooses scripts, Rahil said, “I prioritize my growth as an actor above all. Then I evaluate whether I will be able to break the image of the previous role that I have done. Basically, I want to do those roles which challenge me as an actor.”
