Rashami Desai on being raised by a single mom: She couldn’t even afford Rs 350 fee for my dance classes

Rashami Desai is a popular face on television but her mother had to struggle a lot before Rashami became famous. In an interview, Rashami opened up about the struggles her single mother faced raising her. During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Rashami said that her mother, Rasila Desai who was a teacher in a government school, could not afford the fee of Rs 350 for her dance class. She told Rashami’s dance teacher that she won’t be able to pay the entire fee and requested him to take her in the class.

Rashami said, “I started with Bharatnatyam and I was shifted to Bollywood dance in the third year,” and her instructor asked her to teach kids when he was unavailable.

Rasila Desai also opened up on the problems she went through while raising Rashami as a single parent. She said, “I was a single parent, I did not have a husband to support me. Also, in our caste, she was the first woman to enter this field. Our entire family was very educated and did not think of acting as a career. But, I supported her. I was scared of my family and society, so I changed her name. But my sister was there to support me throughout.”

Rashami rose to fame in television with the show ‘Uttaran’. She also worked in the Bhojpuri film industry. She was last seen in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 13’. In the show, her private life was all open to the audience. Her relationship with her then-boyfriend, Arhaan Khan grabbed the headlines during the show. As Rashami came to know many secrets about Arhaan, she later broke up with him.
