She went on to have a successful career by acting in several TV shows. Ratan was last seen in the show Santoshi Maa – Sunayein Vrat Kathayein in 2020 after which she disappeared from the spotlight, taking a break due to her auto-immune health condition. The actress paved her way into the industry and became one of the most loved household faces in India. But, it didn’t come easy. Ratan Raajputh narrates her horrifying casting couch experience
Ratan Raajputh made some shocking revelations about her casting couch experience back in the day when she was a newbie. During an interview with Aaj Tak, the actress revealed a horrifying incident when her drink was spiked during an audition. She discussed the casting couch issue and the importance of speaking up, even though she hadn’t done so during the #MeToo movement. Ratan receives personal emails on her YouTube channel, especially from young people seeking guidance, which motivated her to share her story.
Narrating the incident of her drink being spiked, she shared, “There was a hotel in Oshiwara where all the auditions used to happen. I went for an audition there and saw many well-known actors there. I gave my audition but the director wasn’t present there.” Further, she revealed, that during the audition, a lower-level coordinator praised Ratan Rajputh’s performance and mentioned that she was being highly regarded by the director.
Further, she said, “I went to another hotel upstairs for the meeting. There, they kept insisting us to have a cold drink which we took a sip of even though we didn’t want to. Then they said they would call me for another audition. Me and my friend reached home then and I started doubting if there was something mixed in the cold drink. I was feeling a bit uneasy too.”
Ratan shares how her drink was spiked by a well-known industry person
The actress recounted that it was a poorly lit location. She observed a girl lying unconscious, possibly due to alcohol consumption, indicating something untoward had already occurred. When she encountered a man outside, he scolded her, assuming her companion was her boyfriend. Ratan clarified that her brother was accompanying her. She suspected her drink had been tampered with, causing a loss of control despite being conscious. Ratan made sure she quickly left the premises.
Ratan concluded by saying, “How can I openly talk about it? People won’t give me work otherwise. But I feel we should be socially responsible, so we should talk about it. The industry is not wrong but some people in it are. I want to slap that person who did this to me. He is still a big name in the industry. They should do this to people who are willing but not trap new kids.”
After listening to this side of her story, it gave me goosebumps. I wish that no other budding actor or for a matter of fact anyone should go through this.
Ratan Raajputh has left an indebile mark in the television industry, she was also a former contestant in the Salman Khan-hosted show Bigg Boss 7. Apart from playing the TV Bahu, she played the role of mythological characters in Mahabharata and Vighnaharta Ganesh. Now, that she is healthy and hearty we hope to see her back on the TV screen.
