EXCLUSIVE: Was called a seb ki tokri, arrogant: Rubina Dilaik opens up about the judgments she faced

Rubina Dilaik is one of the most sort-after actresses in the television industry. She was the winner of Bigg Boss 14 and her personality shined through in all the right ways which is why she garnered a huge fan following. But it has not all been easy for Rubina as well. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rubina Dilaik opened up about the judgements that she faced. From being called a basket of apples to being labelled, Rubina revealed the real reason why she does not attend any award shows.

Rubina Dilaik told Bollywood Bubble, “One thing that I have heard since my school days from the people who hardly knew me, who wanted to become friends with me first and could not break in because of the difference or whatever is arrogant. Secondly, I have had this tag of Hitler since my school days. What is the easiest thing that comes, she has arrogance, she won’t talk at all, she has too much pride, Arey! usse baat karo toh sida tadakta hua jawab deti hai, does she think she is Hitler, oh I spoke to her so much but she didn’t talk at all, so judgements are easy. The easiest thing on earth is to pass a judgement, but it hasn’t affected me at all. Because unless and until it doesn’t come from Abhinav or my family it doesn’t matter at all.”

The Bigg Boss 14 winner said that she was rejected by directors because her face was very hard, “So I remember my very first director, very first day, I had given seventeen retakes and my director said, two-three abusive words and then yeh seb ki peti kahan se leyaaye send her back. I was shit scared, so that cultural shock, population shock, pollution shock so much I had to reel myself into. While I was giving my look test and screen tests or one of the shows, on the other end I was suggested by one of the casting directors to meet somebody else also for another show. The director said my face is very harsh, you should do negative roles, you won’t get main lead. I was round and chubby.

Rubina further revealed, “At that time there used to be award nights, we used to work concisely 18-20 hours. If your show is doing well then they call you for other integrations. For the longest time I thought I was the central character, so why dont they call me, why do they call my sister everywhere. Because I wasn’t presentable to perform at a dance event, it was told to me. I still remember for one of the award nights I was super excited and my show was on top at that point. It was at a rating of 5.7. I knew that I was going to get the award. The name was announced and I could not control myself, from that front row I ran to the bathroom and I cried my heart out. I said I knew this was mine and two days later what I got to know that award was given to the hero because in a couple of weeks the hero and the girl who played my sister were to fly down to South Africa for an event. That was the first and the last award show that I promised myself. Never for an award, I am going to show up, If I am nominated sorry I am not going to go for it.”
