Rupali Ganguly is one of the most loved actresses in the industry. She is currently winning hearts as Anupama in the hit TV show Anupamaa. For the uninitiated, she is the daughter of yesteryear filmmaker Anil Ganguly and has worked in movies like Do Ankhen Barah Hath and Angaara. Now, in a recent interview, Rupali Ganguly revealed that she faced casting couch during her early career days. The actress added that due to experiences such as casting couch she chose to step away from films.

Speaking with Pinkvilla, Rupali said, “Predominantly, the casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time. It did. Maybe some people did not come across it but people like me, we did come across it and we decided not to make that choice.”

Furthermore, Rupali added that she was seen as a ‘failure’ for choosing television over films. The actress said, “At that time, I did feel small but today I feel very proud. My Anupamaa has given me that stature and position that I always dreamt of and hoped for.”

Rupali started her acting career as a child, making her debut at age 7 in her father’s film Saaheb. Ganguly had her career breakthrough, after venturing into TV with her portrayal of medical intern Dr. Simran Chopra in the TV show Sanjivani. She then won hearts with her portrayal of Monisha Singh Sarabhai in the hit show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Since 2020, Rupali is winning hearts as Anupama. Recently, the show completed 1000 episodes. Anupamaa is one of the most successful shows.
On the personal front, Rupali is married to businessman Ashwin K. Verma. The couple has a son. Rupali is active on social media and often shares her family photos and fun on-set moments.
