Since the ‘unlock phase’ has begun, the entertainment industry has been back on track. But, it has not been favourable for actors above 65 because as per the rules they are not allowed on set. Now, the old rule has been scrapped by the Bombay High Court as senior citizens are allowed to get back on sets. Many actors were not happy with the earlier rule including ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actor Sanjay Gandhi.
Earlier while speaking to us about the rule of actors above 65 not being allowed on set, he had said, “It is not good, it is not fair. Agar Karna hi hai toh phir Bachchan sab ko bhi ghar par baithne ko bolo,” he chuckled.
“I’m just saying, not I’m not putting an allegation on Bachchan sir. I’m saying if you want to do it then you can ask other senior actors also, you can aks Paresh Rawal also to sit at home. You can ask all actors who are above 65 to sit at home, will they sit? No. But yes you should help and support them. You should treat them well, take care of them while shooting. You can’t just pass the order, I don’t agree with this.”

Gandhi further said he is also trying to understand the point of view of the producer. He said, “But I also spoke to other people to know why such an order was issued, it’s because they don’t want to take a chance that while shooting these actors fall ill because the virus is around so you never know. He/she should not get affected. Because if anyone is to fall sick during the shoot, the whole expense will have to be taken care of by the producer. I feel that could be the reason. I don’t think there is any other reason, because it can’t be that stories now will not have mothers and father’s characters. But I think this is a phase and it will go. Very soon we should be normal.”
Sanjay Gandhi recently turned director with his short film ‘Yaad’ that released on June 30 on MX Player. The movie finally saw the light after 10 long years as the actor revealed that he had misplaced the final disc of the movie.
