Sargun Mehta recalls becoming a victim of Rs 70 lakhs fraud ahead of Udaariyaan release, reveals how Ravi Dubey calmed her down

Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey are quite a team! Apart from being super successful actors, the duo are equally efficient producers. In a recent interview, the duo opened up about their journey into production and the challenges they faced. Sargun and Ravi revealed that they suffered a massive loss of Rs 70 lakhs while setting up the show’s production.

Sargun Mehta recalls losing 70 lakhs during Udaariyaan

In an interview with Pinkvilla, she said, “Udaariyaan ke waqt we emptied our accounts. And humara jab set baan raha tha, kisine fraud kiya 70 lakhs. I remember mein set se bahar nikli and Ravi was at shoot for Matsya Kaand. (During Udaariyaan, we emptied our accounts. And when our set was being built, someone committed fraud worth ₹70 lakhs. I remember stepping out of the set while Ravi was shooting for Matsya Kaand).”

She went on to say, “I remember stepping out of the set and Ravie was shooting for Matsya Kaand. I had a huge fight with the art director, and my security was holding me only because I was so angry at them. And humara show on air jaane wala tha 15 din mein. And it looked like a blank floor.” Sargun revealed that she then had a major breakdown in the car and questioned whether becoming producers was the right decision. But it was Ravie who kept calm during the situation. “He said nazar utar gayi, aa jaayega, kaam karo. We will earn it again. Those 4-5 months were a nightmare,” she said.

Udaariyaan went on to become one of the most loved shows on television and it starred Isha Malviya, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Ankit Gupta and Abhishek Kumar in the lead. Ravie and Sargun are also the producers of the Dil Ko Rafu Karr Lei and Lovely Lolla on YouTube channel Dreamiyata. On the work front, Ravi will be seen essaying the role of Lord Lakshman in Ramayana which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.
