There are very few television serials that succeed in striking a chord with the audience. Social-drama ‘Balika Vadhu’ was one of them. The show’s concept, the ensemble cast everything was loved by the viewers. Then one unfortunate day reports of the show’s lead actress Pratyusha Banerjee committing suicide surfaced and that left everyone shocked.
Four years back the actress had died on April 1, on her death anniversary her ‘Balika Vadhu‘ co-star Shashank Vyas shared a heartfelt post for her and also reminisced how they used to spend time together and saw each other grow as an actor since they both had started their acting careers together.
Shashank took to his Instagram stories and shared a picture of Pratyusha alongside the caption, “Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear(sic).”
Recalling their shooting days and the kind of bond they shared, Shashank told SpotboyE, “We used to spend a lot of time together laughing, arguing, eating, sharing secrets and whatnot. I have seen her grow as an actor from thirty retakes to one single take. I have seen her stardom and also the problems she was facing behind.”

He further added, “But she was a strong girl and on that day I was in gym for my work out when I received a message from a friend that Pratyusha is no more. And I can’t tell you what that feeling was. That moment I realised nothing is permanent. From that incident, I learned that one should focus on their life for quality and not quantity. Zindagi ki koi problem aapki zindagi se badi nahi hoti hai. I miss her and will always miss her.”
On April 1, 2016, Banerjee was found hanging in her Mumbai apartment and according to the post-mortem report, the cause of death was asphyxia.
