EXCLUSIVE: Shiny Doshi recalls working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, reveals calling producers to replace her

Actress Shiny Doshi made her acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saraswatichandra in 2013. She played Kusum Desai. Later, she appeared in Sarojini – Ek Nayi Pehal, Jamai Raja and Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran among others. She is currently seen in Star Plus’ Pandya Store with Kinshuk Mahajan. Both are loved for their performances. In Bollywood Bubble’s Reel Buddies 2, the duo relived their first meeting, finding each other having an attitude and the first day of shooting together. They also shared the doubts they had while doing their respective first TV shows and calling their producers to replace them. Shiny also shared her experience of working under Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Shiny said, “Maine kabhi socha nahi tha ki main kabhi acting karungi. Meri mamma ka dream tha. My mother was like, ‘tum sundar dikhti hoh, acting kar lo’. Jab aab camera ke samne aate hoh, aapki faat jati hai. Phir emotions bahar leke aana and all and that too getting a break from Sanjay Leela Bhansali and that too for a channel like Star Plus, it was a big task for me to be very honest. Jitni logon ko khushi thi ki isko ye serial mil gaya hai, utna hi mere upar pressure tha. Mujhe samajh mai nahi aata tha mai usko kaise karu.”

She added, “Secondly, I come from a very middle class where I had to earn my own living. Father had left us and I had to look after my family and it was a situation…I think that time I wss not vocal about it but now I feel ke it’s ok. There are people who might get inspired from my story ki jab zindagi main kharab phase aata hain toh har nahi manna chahiye.”

Doshi further said, “Bhansali ji ke show ke baad when I got Sarojini…usse thoda thosa acting ke liye…Saraswatichandra se mujhe naam mila.. In Saraswatichandra, I was not great in acting skills and I have learnt a lot from my co-actors. I used to have my break downs on set. Maine ek baar phone karke bol bhi diya tha ki I am not the right person you have chosen. You all can find my replacement.”
