Sumona Chakravarti ADMITS feeling bad about Kapil Sharma joking about her lips

Actor Sumona Chakravarti is popularly known for her role as Kapil Sharma’s wife in The Kapil Sharma Show. However, she always becomes the centre of attraction whenever Kapil jokes about her lips. While some people thought it was in bad taste, now, Sumona Chakravarti has finally reacted the same. She admitted she felt bad when such jokes were cracked on the show.

In a recent interview with Habit Coach, Sumona revealed that initially, the team tried to attempt this joke but it fell flat. But she was upset when they made fun of her appearance. She said, “Then they dropped it, and eventually, in the other shows, it sort of worked. And I remember I felt really bad.”

Sumona revealed Archana Puran Singh comforted her

Recalling the days, Sumona revealed Archana made her understand and made her take it sportingly. She added, “I remember Archana sat with me and said ‘Why are you upset?’ I said ‘They’ve made fun of my mouth and my lips and everything, and then I didn’t forget the lines he forgot and he said something off-script. I’m not a stand-up comedian; I can’t just come up with funny jokes like that. I mean, if I crack a joke, nobody will understand it.”

Recalling what Archana said to her, Sumona said, “If you can laugh at yourself, you will never feel humiliated. Secondly, about the lip or the mouth part, you have something that women I know pay money to get.”

Sumona also said that people questioned her for being a part of this misogynist show. She said, “It’s a script. It’s not like I am actually…somebody with a duck mouth, as exaggerated. I have come to terms with it. I am a decent-looking girl and I have a nice mouth.”

Sumona who continues to be a part of The Kapil Sharma Show was also seen in Kick and Barfi as cameos.
