Surekha Sikri unable to pay her hospital bills; asks friends to loan her the money

The lockdown has been lifted and the entertainment industry is back on track in most aspects. But there is still a rule that has rendered many senior citizens jobless. Any artist who is above 65 years of age has been denied from getting back onsets and this rule has made actress Surekha Sikri furious as she is unable to pay her hospital bills.

According to a report by Film Companion, Surekha said, “It’s a rotten rule, a very unfair rule because it violates my right to work to the best of my ability and earn a living for my family.”

She further said that since the lockdown she hasn’t had the chance to meet producers and finalize dates, “I think the producers don’t want to get into a situation. But I never had the opportunity to confirm the date, time or place of shoots with them.”

Sikri is also not so optimistic. She revealed that she is getting tired of waiting because overtime bills are piling up. She is no longer able to afford her medical expenses of 2 lakh a month. So she has asked friends to loan her money. “I would like to break this rule. I want to know what the penalty is,” she says. She added, “I’m not asking for charity, all I want to do is work, work, work.”
