Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Miraj Kapri arrested for chain-snatching and theft

Actor Miraj Kapri, who played small roles in shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Thapki, and Mere Angane Mein has been arrested. Miraj has been arrested by the police on charges of chain-snatching and theft. He was nabbed by the police in Surat after a complaint of chain snatching was filed against him.

According to reports in Mumbai Mirror, Miraj Kapri, who once featured in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, resorted to after losing a lot of money due to his betting addiction. He reportedly lost 30 lakhs in cricket betting and gambling, and couldn’t pay the debt. So, Miraj Kapri and his friend Vaibhav Jadhav took to the path to robbery for repaying the debt. They started chain-snatching on the streets of Mumbai.

Both the accused, Miraj Kapri and Vaibhav Jadhav, are residents of Junagadh. They were arrested by the police in Surat post receiving a tip-off from an informer. The police have recovered goods worth Rs 2.54 lakhs from the two, which includes three gold chains, two mobiles, and stolen bikes. The police are now searching for the jeweller to whom the Miraj and Vaibhav sold the stolen jewellery.

Two cases were filed against Miraj and Vaibhav, and now both have been solved. During the interrogation, the duo admitted their crimes. They confessed that they mostly targetted women in deserted areas. Also, the two revealed that they used the stolen bikes for chain-snatching and robberies as they wouldn’t be traced by the bike’s registration number

Apart from being a junior artiste in shows like TMKOC, Thapki Pyaar Ki and Mere Angne Mein, Miraj also worked as a fitness trainer for earning extra income.
