Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: Bhavya Gandhi aka Tapu breaks silence on being ousted from the show

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Bhavya Gandhi aka Tapu left the show a few years back. He rose to fame with his character of Tapu and though he left the show, still Tapu of the Tapu Sena fame is etched in the memories of the audience. Bhavya is still in touch with his co-stars Disha Vakani, Kush Shah, Nidhi Bhanushali and others. He is currently doing films. In an interview with ETimes, he opened up about TMKOC, the reason behind quitting it and lot more.

Bhavya left the show when he was popular as Tapu. When asked what made him quit it, the 23-year old said that even now people call him by the name of Tapu and he has no issues with it. He credited TMKOC for where he is today but he wanted to explore himself. “Because at a point in Taarak, I was just doing something, which was just monotonous. I’m just doing something constantly, I was just coming there everyday, doing this, doing that and then pack up, chalo ghar, and that happened for a long time. I said this is monotony and didn’t know how to handle it, I had no clue. I didn’t know what to do about this. So, then me and my parents had a chat even Asit (Modi) sir (producer of the show), the directors, everybody…each and every person that is connected to me – that is almost the set, everybody knew that I am leaving and I used to talk to them about what should I do, and what I shouldn’t,” said Bhavya.

He further said that he was ‘weighing all the ifs and buts’, and then eventually, he came to the conclusion that he wants to leave the show to explore and to learn new things.

Post he left the show, there were reports that his unprofessionalism was the reason that he was ousted from the show, to which Bhavya said that he doesn’t care about the reports. “I know the truth I know I am what I am. Let people think, I don’t care,” he said.

If given an opportunity to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he would love to go. Bhavya said, “I want to go back where I started promoting my film. I don’t know if it will happen, I just hope it happens.”
