Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Munmun Dutta aka Babita ji has been grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Recently, she received a lot of flak on social media for posting a video where she used ‘casteist slur’. Though later she apologized for the same, an FIR was registered against her in Haryana for using the casteist slur. Rajat Kalsan, convenor, National Alliance for Dalit Human Rights, registered the FIR against Munmun and the complaint was filed against her in Hansi, Haryana on May 11.
Now, a second FIR is filed against the actress for the same video. As per a report in PTI, police have registered a case against the TMKOC actress in Indore for allegedly using an objectionable word against a Scheduled Caste community as said by an official said on Wednesday.
The official said the FIR is filed based on the complaint lodged by Akhil Bharatiya Balai Mahasangh president Manoj Parmar under sections of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Earlier, while apologizing on the matter, on May 10, she issued a statement on her Instagram handle where she wrote, “This is in reference to a video that I posted yesterday where in one word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone’s feelings. Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down. I have utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our Society or nation”.
