Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah turns 13: Dilip Joshi and others have a special message for fans

The longest-running TV family comedy – Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), produced by Neela Film Productions Private Limited completes 13 years today. For a serial that is aired every day, this is a phenomenal feat and to the millions of its viewers, the show is a daily dose of laughter and positivity in their lives. Traditionally the day is observed as ‘Haso Hasao Divas’, and the show’s cast and crew get together to celebrate its anniversary. On the occasion, the cast of the show express their gratitude and shares their happiness with viewers by welcoming everyone to celebrate the day as Haso Hasao Divas with them.

They shared three special AVs to thank their viewers. “Welcome to Gokuldham, yaha hota hai manoranjan subah or sham. Har problem ka hamara nazriya ulta hai, kyunki solution toh hasi me hi milta hai. Purush Mandli ka hai anokha kamaal, yaha tapu sena karti hai daily dhamaal. Mahila mandal ne hai Gokuldham ko sajaya, 13 saal me apne humko apne ghar ka hisa banaya. Aapse banta hai parivar hamara, aise hi haste haste aage badhe karwa hamara. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah ke taraf se aap sabka tahe dil se shukriya!” Shailesh Lodha, Dilip Joshi, Mandar Chandwadkar, Sonalika Joshi and Sunayana Fozdar said while expressing their gratitude.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a show of happiness and wholesome family entertainment for all of us. Today, Gokuldham Society, Sakharam, Bhide’s tuition classes, Gada Electronics, Madhavi’s pickles and papad, and needless to say, the characters have become household names.

TMKOC made its first appearance on 28th July 2008 and since then it has telecast over 3200 episodes making it the world’s longest-running family show in the comedy genre. The show is aired on SAB TV.

The team has for sure achieved great heights.

The series takes place at the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society an apartment complex in Powder Gali, Film City Road, Goregaon East, Mumbai. It centres around the members of the Gokuldham Society.

Gokuldham is also referred to as “Mini India” in the show. The residents of Gokuldham are shown facing mundane problems and finding solutions for those problems. The show also occasionally highlights social issues. Most of the episodes are based on Jethalal being stuck in a problem and Taarak Mehta, his best friend, whom he calls his “Fire Brigade”, rescues him. They help each other in their problems, to promote unity in diversity. Gokuldham is lively and often laughs. The members of Gokuldham celebrate all the festivals like a family and organise various events. The responsibility of organising these events is often on Tapu Sena’s shoulders while Bhide is tensed about exceeding the budget.
