Tina opens up on Uttaran success
Talking about Uttaran’s effect on audiences, Tina said, “Logon ke mann mein, rag rag mein aise bas chukka tha (In people’s mind, there was such a thing) ke you know a lot of creatives couldn’t actually literally see me in any other character. They just couldn’t place me and even the channel was like people are not going to accept you.”

Tina added, “It actually happens. It becomes very, very difficult because woh itna aapke dimag mein baith jaata hai na then it because very difficult to change that perception and get into a character. So probably if I was doing this character immediately after Uttaran, I don’t know how much acceptability would have been there from the audience because they would have been like connecting me so much with that particular character.”
She went on to add, “They would be like ‘acha matlab ye toh saree pehenti thi,’ ‘ye typical bahu thi’, ‘yeh toh bolti bhi nahin thi, ekdum hanji sirji sir jhuka ke sun leti thi’ you know that acchi bahu wala character (They would be like ‘she used to wear saree’, ‘she was a typical daughter-in-law’, ‘she never used to talk’, ‘she was a good daughter-in-law character’ and right now she’s like all pepped up, spunky jeans pehen ke and she doesn’t know nonsense wala dress and you can’t mess with me kind wala zone. Ya, mein bohot tameez se aapse baat karungi but then of course… Ek admi ne drunk hoke there was a scene jaha pe badtamazi kari hai, but she’s a Mumbai girl. She’s obviously going to give it back ke dude bro back off and I’m not liking it. So, it’s today’s generation wala concept. So yes, I think acceptability would have been very different.”
For the uninitiated, Tina will be next seen in Sony TV’s Hum Rahe Na Rahe Hum with Jay Bhanushali.
