TMKOC: Asit Modi feels Dayaben aka Disha Vakani’s RETURN & Popatlal’s marriage can wait amid the COVID crisis

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entertaining fans for the past 13 years. And even amid the difficult COVID times, the TMKOC team is managing to put a smile on viewers faces. However, there two things that every TMKOC is longing for – Dayaben aka Disha Vakani’s return and the marriage of Popatlal. Yes, TMKOC viewers keep asking about Dayaben and Popatlal, and it looks like Asit Modi is fed up with it now. Yes

In a recent chat with the Times of India, Asit Modi opened up about Dayaben and Popatlal. The TMKOC producer kind of expressed disappointment with consistently being asked about the return of Dayaben and the marriage of Popatlal. He feels that these can wait amid the COVID crisis that the world is going through. An upset Asit Modi went on to say that he feels he must become Dayaben now for TMKOC.

“I feel I should become Dayaben now! The question of her return has been going on for many years now,” Asit Modi said. He added that they’re waiting for her to come back. And if at all Disha Vakani expresses her desire to quit the show, then TMKOC will go on with a new Dayaben. But, right now he feels Daya’s return or Popatlal’s wedding are not important.

The producer added that in the current COVID pandemic situation there are many serious issues to look at. Thus, he feels that Dayaben aka Disha Vakani’s return to TMKOC and Popatlal’s marriage can wait. The team is yet mulling to shoot new episodes in a bio-bubble as the shootings are currently stopped. “We have to think of safety protocols and continue shooting so that livelihoods are not affected. Also, the bio-bubble format is quite effective and if we get permission for it, I would like to work in that format,” Asit Modi said.

Meanwhile, Disha Vakani aka Dayaben went on a maternity break in September 2017 and is yet to re-enter. The current track of TMKOC revolves around Popatlal getting married, but amid the crisis, there’s no
clarity on how the track will progress further.
